Dear Mom and Dad,

I want to thank you so much for these googles!  It's been amazing
being able to study how active enchantments and wards actually work!
When I left for Skyhold Academy, I was sure that I was going to study
enchanting and spend all my time figuring out how to make interesting
new tools for people to use.

Well, good news and bad news. ;)  Turns out, that affinity we couldn't
quite figure out has more to do with enchanting and wards and spells than
I could have imagined (and more besides, of course, which we already
knew).  So, I don't actually need the googles any more - with a little
time and concentration, I can kinda see it all on my own now.  And I'm
starting to learn how to tweak things to make the mana flow differently.
It's all new stuff, really, so slow going for now, but I have high hopes
for it!

The bad news is that the other girls and I are being persistently targeted
by some real wierdoes - I mentioned the first time in my last letter.
Well, those guys just keep showing up!  And they're after this other
student as well, so we've ended up hanging out together a lot (well,
outside of class, anyway, as he's a third year so he takes more advanced
classes than we do).  The school's been pretty good about keeping us
safe, but they've also been clear we're going to have to do a lot of
the work (of keeping ourselves safe) ourselves.  So, that's kinda scary,
but we're doing okay.

I've got lots of ideas about things I want to do (although not so much
into the enchanting as I'd thought at first), and there's lots of stuff
to learn!  So hopefully it'll all work out, somehow. ;)
