Dear Mom and Dad,

You won't believe what happened that first night!  After the four of us
finally managed to get to sleep, some giant insects made it out of the
labyrinth and two of them attacked Irina!  Well, we squished the bigger
one pretty quick, and one of the guards showed up and lightning bolted the
smaller one.  Irina and Mallipattra got poisoned, but a healer checked
them out and said they'd be fine.  We spent the night camped out in a
guardpost just in case, but nothing else happened.

The next day, we got our assignments - apparently they decided we need
lots of combat training, and I think everyone's okay with that.  But I
mostly get healer training.  I promise to study hard, Mom!  Sadly, so far,
no one here knows anything about whatever my affinity is either, so I'm
doing a lot of reading on my own to try and figure it out.  Fortunately,
the library is awesome!  The worst part is having to focus on one thing
(more or less).  I've got so much stuff I want to read about!
