Having taken custody of the prisoners, we escort the elvish ambassador (Teresiel), 2 merchants from Waterdeep, and a bit over half the town of Westbridge (including Mayor Johnson) up through the fire cult's quarters to the surface, and through the hills to the path into Redlarch, the closest safe area to bring them to. Unfortunately, as we travel, there seem to be fewer and fewer rescuees, although like in a dream, no one really notices are remembers it ever having been different. The hills are actually swamps, and then six gargoyles and a stone giant attack, the giant splitting into a dou and two ghlabduhr when brought down. 17.2k/6 xp. As we make camp in the marsh, we're ambushed by a marilyth and a horde of manes. 15k/6 xp. The landscape keeps changing, and we eventually find ourselves with no rescuees and back in the Abyss somehow. The terrain isn't that unfamiliar, though, so we head back to the devil we last met here and try to figure out what's up. We eventually figure out we've gone back in time again, for some reason, and have to spend a week in his basement as our earlier selves arrive and settle in. We spend the time leveling up. Eventually, our former selves leave, and then we leave as well. This time, we arrive back at the group of rescuees, who had been saving from ankhegs by a friendly stone giant. We resume escorting them to Redlarch and finally arrive. It seems the smith's devotees have been instructed by their god to build a large ark, which is nearing completion.
