The knights proceed to the lich's quarters, deciding that a show of force is the best way to proceed. They proceed to get dumped into a zombie pit, while a skeletal minotaur and naga attack the group. After some amount of bashing by and on both sides, the lich comes out and notices the hammer Akra is wielding (2000 xp, 2500 xp quest completion). It turns out he is (or at least claims to be) the brother of the founder of the knights based at Summit Hall (and the knights later back up the story). He mostly just wants to be left alone, and the knights agree to do so (for now, at least). He also points to some leftover laundry, where Rimardo finds enchanted handwraps for Mika. We ignore the dwarven ruins underneath, as likely staffed by monsters beyond our ability to handle (like the minotaurs). After a rest, we decide to next head to the nearby fires and see what's up (the knights head home). There turns out to be ruined tower with a burning wicker man (that somehow is not consumed by the flame), and a number of encampments scattered about the hill outside. We wander about the place, talking to folks and seeing what's up in general. They appear to mostly be druids, here for a new ritual. No one is familiar with the ritual, but that appears to be fairly usual. The ritual is being organized by Elhazar, who's been around to the camps a number of times, although not in the past day or so. However, one camp takes issue with us and attacks. The leader is not so much a druid as a fire cultists sorcerer with minions! Apparently the whole thing is a setup to attract worthy people to sacrifice to the fire elemental prince (Imix), and they're currently deciding who's worthy, and who can be recruited into the cult (2050 xp, 44 gp). We decide to warn the other camps, with mixed results. Some camps seem to listen, some do not, and another camp attacks. This time, a pair of fire sorcerers quickly puts everyone down. Fortunately, we're probably worthy, so will be sacrificed.
